| Maintenance JQR
Program. Maintenance JQRs have been developed under NAVSEA's oversight to qualify
repair personnel to perform maintenance processes. A JQR is not designed as a training
program, but it does provide many training objectives. It was written with the aid of
experienced repair personnel who are currently performing the processes covered by this
JQR. They have determined that these are the minimum requirements for safely and
effectively performing the specified processes. Contents. The JQR is divided into three sections:
The 100 section (Fundamentals)
contains the fundamental knowledge required for a satisfactory understanding of the
equipment and processes. Core fundamentals, used by virtually all shops, are numbered
100.1 through 100.9 and address elements such as safety, and QA. Fundamentals used by one
or a limited number of shops are numbered Ixx.Ol to 1xx.99, where xx is the number of a
primary shop (e.g. 126.04 might be the fundamental for weld Pre-Heat and Post-Heat).
The 200 section (Equipment) is
designed to familiarize the operator with equipment being used to perform processes at
his/her activity. The operator will be required to have a fundamental knowledge of the
equipment, and demonstrate the safe, accurate and efficient operation of the equipment.
Checkouts can be achieved by an isolated demonstration or during a work process while
assisting a lead craftsman. Equipment checkouts are numbered 2xx.01 to 2xx.99, where xx is
the number of a primary shop. Note: Completion of 3M Maintenanceman 301 is required prior
to performing PMS.
The 300 section (Processes) lists
the repair processes associated with a particular work area in accordance with
S9810-AA-GTP-01 O/IMACAP Rev 3. Each process lists prerequisite fundamental and equipment
checkouts that must be completed before qualifying to that process. Additional
prerequisites from other sources may appear; i.e., schools, PQS. The trainee must perform
the process safely, accurately, and efficiently in accordance with formal work procedures
and applicable references, and while working as the lead craftsman on the job. Bolded
titles in a JQR document are associated with a BFIMA Skill Area.
BFIMA Qualification Path.
Represents a set of core processes from the 300 section associated with a particular BFIMA
Skill Area (i.e., Shipfitter, Inside Machinist, Inside Electrical). Successfully
completing qualification on these processes will lead to obtaining an NEC related to a
BFIMA Skill.
Qualifier. The JQR
Qualifier is designated in writing by the Commanding Officer to sign off individual JQR
line items. Qualifiers will normally be E-5 or above, and as a minimum, must have
completed the JQR that they are authorized to sign off. For more information on the duties
and responsibilities of JQR Qualifiers, see the JQR Management Guide.
Trainee. Your supervisor
will tell you which JQR processes are to be completed, and in what order. Before getting
started, turn to the 300 section in your JQR document first, and find your assigned
process. This will tell you what you should do before starting your process
demonstrations. You may be required to complete other PQS qualifications, JQRs, school, or
other processes in this package. Your JQR document will also tell you which fundamental
and equipment knowledge/demonstration you must complete prior to qualification on your
process. If you have any questions or are unable to locate references, contact your
supervisor or qualifier. This web site provides important training in support of many of
the 100-, 200-, and 300-level areas of your JQR. Study the lessons here will help you
prepare for your process demonstrations.
PQS Requirements. In some
cases, PQS qualification is also required before performing work. Other requirements may
exist, depending on the equipment you use, and the type of work you do. These requirements
should be integrated into an individual's qualification training path.
JQR Feedback Reports. Due
to the flexibility of JQRs and the variation among activities, feedbacks are not required
for deletions made locally to your book. This constitutes tailoring for your own use. If
you delete any processes, do not alter the numbering. Do not renumber fundamentals,
equipment, or processes. Feedbacks are strongly encouraged if you find typographical
errors, misspelled words, or incorrect use of terminology. Feedbacks are mandatory for the
following situations:
- Fundamentals, equipment, and processes not
covered by the JQR for which a qualification is being developed.
- References that have been added, subtracted,
or superseded.
NOTE: Do not change or rearrange any of the
100, 200, or 300 series numbers and their associated qualifications. These are standard
Navy-wide numbers.
